Google SEO basics: how to win every time

There's a ton of information available online that covers a whole host of Google SEO basics and it can be conflicting and confusing. However you approach getting better Google rankings, there's one essential, basic principle you need to understand and apply and that's: Give Google search users the best experience possible. This is critical, absolutely critical. Google states it, a lot of people have heard it, but not everyone puts it into practice. If you take nothing else away from this post, get this principle firmly fixed in your mind, let me explain why. Google SEO basics - user experience aka getting the right result SEO is changing and it's changing for the better from the user's perspective. Put yourself in the shoes of someone doing a Google search for a moment. Say you type something into Google like "am I having a heart attack" - that phrase actually has 54 searches…

Passive income online – the truth

It seems the holy grail of internet marketing is the idea of making passive income online, and of course, that's something everyone wants - well wouldn't you? The question is, does such a thing exist, how easy is it to achieve and is it a realistic expectation for your online business. Let's face it, if it was that easy to achieve, everyone would be doing it - right? And that's the point. "Passive income" is definitely achievable, but not that easily. With that said, the result, if achieved, is worth any sort of effort to get there. It's got to be, just imagine making money while you sleep what could be better? Okay, slow down. Before we get carried away here, let's look at something we'll call delayed gratification, it's an important concept. Passive income online is not instant riches You'll have often heard it said that a doctor or attorney will…

Entrepreneur tips – give to receive

One of my most lucrative entrepreneur tips Whether you're an affiliate marketer, freelancer or any other kind of online entrepreneur, providing value upfront is one of my key entrepreneur tips. It's absolutely the best way to: Get new business Get more business from existing customers Keep customers longer Increase customer lifetime value Make more cash! Here's an actual example of how doing just that made me $5,000 in my business yesterday. My customer had no business for me Several days ago, I sent a message to one of my customers in my digital marketing business asking if they had any business for me. No reply. I knew Jonathan was a busy guy, so I figured he just didn't have time to reply. I also knew that sending out an email simply asking for business is not such a good idea in any case, but I was busy and just dashed off a…

Email marketing is dead – NOT!

You better believe it :) It's important to make sure you turn visitors to your website into email subscribers, period. I'm seeing a lot of talk about email being dead and the latest flavor of the day seems to be Facebook messenger. To be honest, right now I can't stand FB messenger! I have it on my cell phone and I find it clumsy, confusing and not at all intuitive. That said, there are still many things on Facebook itself that remain a mystery to my (highly logical) brain. But, putting all personal prejudice aside, there is good reason, very good reason, to double down on building your email list. Are your visitors leaving without meeting you? I read a blog post on Wealthy¬†Affiliate today that struck a chord (I'm a premium member) and I wanted to share it with you. The author asked the question "Are your visitors leaving without meeting…

Successful entrepreneur tips – your mental health

One of my more important successful entrepreneur tips If you're reading this, it's highly likely you want to make it online, earn a full-time income and even quit your job. Throughout my website, I provide you with a host of "successful entrepreneur tips" that can help you do just that. However, there are some potential issues you need to be aware of as you start to see success, let me explain. There's an entrepreneur on YouTube I loosely follow by the name of Greg Preece. I say loosely because although he's a successful affiliate marketer he was following a direction last year that I could see might be unsustainable in the long run (Merch by Amazon). That said, he got himself to a stage where he was regularly earning $3,000 or so a month of passive income which is a great achievement. Greg was posting to YouTube virtually every day, uploading hundreds…

What successful people do differently

There are reasons why some people achieve success while others want it but never achieve it. I believe you can boil much of the difference down to certain traits successful people have while those that struggle to break through are missing these important characteristics. Action takers Successful entrepreneurs tend to be action takers who have an idea and run with it. They don't overanalyze the situation (paralysis by analysis) but forge ahead no matter what. Often, they won't listen to advice from others who doubt their ideas or direction and that can be a good thing. In my experience, most of the would-be advisors are not in a position to give advice in any case because they're giving advice on something they don't really understand (working online). There's so much opportunity to make money online in our digital age that never existed 20 years ago. You simply need to take action, tap…

Sack your boss before it’s too late!

I came across this post on Quora today and it reminded me of just how much I hated working for companies and the dreaded boss! THE QUORA POST This poor sod is doing everything right and the boss still wants to cut his salary due to "budget restrictions". What kind of BS is that? In the past, I've worked for major corporates such as IBM, Fujitsu, and Xerox, and do I miss it - not at all. Okay, the steady money and perks were good, but the jumping through hoops and trying to be the corporate animal I wasn't was painful. On top of this, there is a definite ceiling to what you can achieve and earn in a given job role. PLUS You're ultimately at the mercy of the company - look at this guy who's probably going to have to look for another job through no fault of his…

Staying healthy – a simple trick that worked for me

As entrepreneurs, it's all too easy to neglect our health. Long spells at the keyboard, even longer days (14 hours are not unusual) and a lack of exercise can all take their toll. The thing is, when you work such long hours, you can fool yourself into believing you're being productive when the exact opposite is actually true. Eventually, it will catch up with you, your productivity will drop, and your health may even suffer. So, take regular breaks, try to work reasonable hours and get out in the fresh air regularly - even if it's for a short time over lunch. Many hours at my desk eventually took its toll In my case, overwork and too many hours spent hunched over the keyboard eventually took its toll. I got back pain so bad, after only half an hour at my desk, I could barely stand up and shuffle to the kitchen…

You’re unstoppable – believe it!

The importance of persistence & continuous self-improvement There are quite a few quotes that give me inspiration when I work online, here are a couple of my favorites. The first is by Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President of the United States: "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent" Think about¬†this and relate it to your own online journey, it makes sense, right? You'll always face challenges when you work online, that's a given. But what separates the winners from the losers, the successful from the unsuccessful, those who make it from those who give up just before they do is PERSISTENCE. When I did some off-road motorbiking (I come from tarmac, so it…
